Have not been out for ages with the camera due to on going home improvements . Tonight i decided i had had enough of decorating and headed out with the camera. I headed over to Margate to try and capture the sunset. Well the sun obviously set but not that it was seen by anyone, the cloud just rolled in at the last minute and completely blocked it. I continued walking along Margate seafront from the Turner Contemporary to the train station. I found an island in the middle of the road that i thought might make a good location to shoot from looking down along the seafront.
There was nothing happening with the sky at all so i decided to do a long exposure to blur out the traffic and create some light trails. I set up my camera on a tripod and composed the shot. I used a Lee Big Stopper , a 10 stop ND filter. This gave me a exposure of 80 seconds at iso 100 F 8/.0 The image was processed using a single RAW file in Lightroom and finished in Photoshop.
Dreamlands new sign, which i think is based on the original, really does dominate the seafront , lets hope they make a real success of their venture and help attract much needed tourists to the area.
