Half term has come and gone and i am back to work , its taken me this long to process all the images and video clips from our trip to Whitecroft , within the Forest of Dean. I am still learning how to use Davinci Resolve 15 so the quality of the vlog may not be up to par but its all a learning curve, I use a Canon 5D mark III for my still images and a Gopro Hero 4 silver on a Feiyu Tech G6 with a Rhode Video Mic Micro for better sound quality. I shoot the still in Raw format and the video on a flat protune profile so every image and video clip needs processing and exporting to the right size and quality. Then i need to compile a video including all the clips and images , then colour correct all the video, i am not complaining but there must be a easier way, how do you vlog ? Do you use flat profile and colour correct or do you shoot in a built in profile ? Just would like to know what you all do.
We booked a cottage called The Nook , situated in Whitecroft , through cottages4u , this was in a perfect location within the Forest of Dean and within driving distance of the Brecon Beacons , the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean.
While we were here we managed to visit , Puzzlewood , Pen - y -fan, Tintern Abbey, Bourton on the Water, Symonds Yat Rock and a few other locations.
Puzzlewood is a nice place to wonder full of atmosphere and even magical atmosphere within the woods, so much so it has appeared in many films including Dr Who, Atlantis, Merlin, Hidden Kingdoms , Jack the Giant Slayer and Davinci Demons to name but a few, here are a few of my images of the forest. If you are visiting Puzzlewood use GL16 8QB postcode for your satnav , you cant miss the car park
We visited the area of Pen - Y - Fan , my wife suffers with a few breathing conditions so climbing it was not really a option but we walked a while up the foothills and took in the scenery , great locations. The car park is a fair size and has public toilets and a guy with a trailer selling hot drinks and snacks was there when we went. The car park fills up quick so either get there early or early afternoon when some people would have completed the climb and back down leaving a few spaces available in the car park. The car park you want is Pont ar Daf Car Park using Brecon LD3 8NL for your satnav.
Tintern Abbey was a great day out , the admission price was £6.90 and i was asked if my camera bag contained a drone as they were not permitted over the Abbey. Car Park, NP16 6SE , was £3.00 and you could have this deducted if you spend over that in the gift shop or in the local pub , The Anchor inn, which does the best Ploughmans i ever had!
Bourton on the Water was a fair drive , over an hour and a quarter from our cottage but a nice drive and a lovely chocolate box location. For Parking use this address 30 Rissington Rd, Bourton-on-the-Water, Cheltenham GL54 2AY , very reasonable charge and easy walking distance to the village. Toilets within the car park but charge 20p
Symonds Yat Rock was a lovely viewpoint overlooking the River Wye and one of the turns in the river. For car parking you have a couple of options one is easier to get to than the other but depends where you want to visit and or how mobile you are, The view from above is best at Unnamed Road 7NZ, Coleford GL16 7NZ , this is Symonds Yat Rock car park. There is a car park at Symonds Yat East but the road gets fairly narrow and tight turns to the bottom where you can visit the pub and ride the pull ferry or take a trip on a river cruise. We parked at the top and walked down the woodland walk to the bottom, its fairly steep and through woodland so may not be suitable for all.
