Still really busy at home trying to complete the kitchen project i started back in December , seems so long ago now, so i have not had many opportunities to get out with the camera, so when the grandkids arrive its nice break from the kitchen and a chance to get some portraits of them.
I purchased a single pack of laminate flooring for this shoot as well as a basket to photograph our latest edition to the family, Olivia.
Emily is really developing well and has a very funny funny personality , she really is full of life and as such has become a challenge to photograph, like any other three year old. Olivia is a little easier to control but does suffer with colic so you have to grab the opportunities for a shot while you can.
We had purchased the basket for Olivia before she was even born , hoping to get some newborn portraits of her but her colic was pretty bad and you could not put her down for long enough without her wanting to be picked up and comforted. I purchased a single pack of laminate floor for the background. Setting up the shot on the floor was not the easiest thing to do as the light had to be set pretty low. I did look at a baby posing beanbag but it was pretty expensive for what would be a few images. If i was to do this for clients i would invest in one without hesitation as having your subject raised from the ground level would make life a little easier.
The lighting was a single Godox Wistro AD360 boomed on a C Stand overhead inside a large octabox. Fill was from a silver reflector camera left. If i was able i would have liked to set up another light for fill and even a hairlight but these two really did not want to hang around waiting for me. Here lies my first lesson, be prepared and set everything up in advance !
