This morning i set about taking a window light portrait as i wanted to see how high i would have to push the iso to use my 70-200mm F/4.0 lens, and i own the non IS version so needed a shutter speed of at least 1/200th sec. The image above was taken at ISO 8000 1/200th sec at F/4.0. There is a bit of noise in the image but you can get rid of a lot of that in lightroom. I was very happy with the final image and the post work on it. I was trying a different technique for the skin call Frequency Separation. Its been around for a while but i have never tried it until now and i have to say i am very impressed with the level of control you have over it. The skin colour and texture are on two separate layers so you can get rid of imperfections without loosing the texture or colour. If you want to learn this technique yourself this is the one i watched here
Like the results but i can also see the huge benefits of faster glass. Do i need to invest in the 70 -200 F2.8 is mk ii and or the 85mm 1.8 prime. Well Christmas is coming !!
