When I got home from work today the sky was full of large white puffy clouds and moving pretty fast so I grabbed my gear and headed out, wasn't sure where but by the time I got to Pegwell Bay area the sky was clear ! Decided to park up in the picnic area shot of the Viking Ship. This is not a easy thing to shoot as there is very little backdrop and railings all around.
Now a full-size replica of the Viking longship in Ramsgate, was given to Kent in 1949 to mark the 1,500th anniversary of the invasion of Britain. After restoration the ship returned to Pegwell Bay on 9 June 2005 .Brothers Hengist and Horsa, were the legendary leaders of the first Anglo-Saxon-Jutish settlers in Britain. Originating from Jutland, Denmark, they fought for Vortigern, the high king of Britain, in his struggle against the Picts from Scotland. between AD 449 and AD 454. Hengist betrayed his master, Vortigern, before becoming king himself. The Jutes subsequently settled in southern Hampshire and Kent.
