Not been up town for a while and with Christmas a distant memory , i decided to go to Queens House in Greenwich. It is home to the Tulip Staircase . A very well photographed staircase i have seen many times over the years but never got to do it myself, till now.
I left Ramsgate on the Highspeed Train to Stratford International where i got the DLR from Stratford to Canary Wharf and from there to Greenwich. I walked approximately 15 mins to Queens House. It may be quicker to get of at Cutty Sark and walk from there but will try that next time.
I made my way inside Queens House and spoke to a very helpful member of staff who said that i could take pictures as long as no flash or tripod was used. This is not a major problem just need to shoot at some higher ISO than i would normally like.
Trying to get a clean shot of the Tulip Staircase was tricky having to use a high ISO . The above image was ISO 2500 , the 5d mark iii copes pretty well with noise but i still had some post work to do. I sed Topaz denoise to remove noise , Nik colour efex to remove colour cast and photoshop to finish of and sharpen with a high pass filter.
I am not really an art lover but i do appreciate the skill and time taken to produce these great images , the place was full of Maritime history and well worth a visit.
After i had finished my visit i headed back towards Stratford to Meet a friend for some Underground photography . We met and headed to the Jubilee Line and Visited Canary Wharf, London Bridge and Southwark Tube stations.
From Southwark we split up as Barry wanted to continue to a few other stations and i wanted to capture the City at Night. I headed out the station and headed towards the OxO Towerand took a few shots along the Southbank.
