Its been a while since i managed to get some time for photography, been very busy after buying a house and now putting in a new Kitchen, but today i reached a point in the kitchen where i cant do anymore until the worktops go in so i headed off down to Ramsgate Harbour to see this years Christmas light display. I have tried to photograph this the last couple of years but always struggled to get decent weather and a calm sea but this year was better conditions than previous attempts.
Trying to photograph boats in a harbour with Christmas lights is a challenge due to the length of exposure times and the movement of the boats and trying to balance the exposure of the sky with the foreground are all things to consider. I tried some handheld and some on a tripod, the handheld were to short exposure times and did not show the atmosphere well and the tripod mounted ones were sometimes to long and created to much movement. It was just a matter of waiting for the conditions to be right.
I parked up along the cliff top by the old bandstand and walked along the top. Looking over i could see the old Peggy Sues nightclub where i used to work, being renovated by Wetherspoons. I for one cant wait to see this re open.
Here are a few of the images i captured
