Yesterday we decided to head up to London for a quick visit to Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. We have been before but the last time we went was a celebration so don't really remember much about the park itself !

I was hoping to get a few long exposures but i decided i would not take my tripod as i was not sure of the rules during the event. I did contact the media department but i did not get an an answer in time. I have now received an application form for a photography permit, so if you want to do the same i suggest you contact them, via their website, a week before you intend to go.
I did pack my gorillapod, should the circumstances allow i could at least use it. The weather on the day was less than ideal with fine constant rain. I did all the shots in Hyde Park handheld and some using on camera flash.

We did how ever stop off at the Carousel Bar for a couple just in memory of last years celebrations that were unfortunately messed up this year.
The Carousel Bar
The whole of the site is full of places to eat and drink as well as the fairground rides and a small market place selling a wide range of gifts. Due to the nature of the event it is a little pricey for food etc.

There is also a ice rink for you to try your Dancing on Ice skills on. However due to the unusually mild weather conditions the ice looked a little soft and in places was completely melted.

After visiting here we headed down towards the Southbank. We got the underground down to Westminster and walked along the Thames towards Blackfriars, where we finished off the day with dinner at Doggetts, by Blackfriars Bridge.
I did stop along the way to grab a couple of shots .

Had a great day with my wife and youngest son but would really like to go back up to Winter Wonderland for a purely photographic reason.
