Took a drive out to a place called Pineham which is around the Whitfield and Dover area of Kent. I had driven down earlier in the week to find out where the location was and parking , stuff like that so i had a good idea of what to expect. What i did not expect was just how difficult it would be to get a good well balanced composition, it proved really tricky.Read More
I have really been struggling with a slump in my photography, i had no enthusiasm to get out and found it a real struggle. Tonight i decided i had to get out and shoot, i gathered all my gear, jumped in the car and headed out to capture Sunset at Margate, Kent.
I parked a few streets away and walked down to the seafront and thus avoided any car parking chargesRead More

Day Two of our trip took us to Ribblehead Viaduct or Batty Moss Viaduct as it was otherwise called. Its a grade ii listed structure which spans approximately 400 meters and was started on 12 October 1870, it has 24 massive stone arches 104 feet above the moor. It was responsible for that many loss of lives the railway paid for the local graveyard o be extended.Read More
We recently stayed up in the Yorkshire Dales in a little village called Grassington. On our first full day we decided to go visit the scene from Harry Potter and the deathly hallows at the limestone footpath at the top of Malham Cove. Parking for this is down in Malham itself at the visitor center car park or on the road just outside if you get there early enough. The Parking was £4.50 for over 2 hours and £5 for 24 hours, not sure of the difference !Read More
Decided i was going to get sunrise and wanted somewhere i had not been before, after some research i found a place called Farthing Common, which is on the North Downs Way Kent. I found a location to park and added it to my Garmin Montana GPS. I packed my gear, set my alarm for 05:30. Sunrise is 07:10 so i would have time for a coffee before setting off on the forty five minute journey. The weather forecast was good and the forecast was for some autumnal hill fog , which i was really hoping to be able to capture.Read More
I have seen some great sunrises the last few days so given a day off i was going to try and capture it, watch my video on my attempt at getting a sunrise at viking bayRead More
Planning a shoot is always the best idea, i really need to location scout more often so i know where i want to be at sunset or sunrise as leaving things to chance just dont normally work out. Lesson i learned as i was not where i wanted to be at sunset, but did stumble across the Battle of Britain Memorial, at Capel-le-Fern .Read More
Went down to Botany Bay in Broadstairs to try and photograph the sunset, sadly it was not great. Got a couple of images and even got the Mavic Air up. Here is a short Video showing my evening , please feel free to share and lie and subscribe to my youtube channel , thanks

Been really lazy lately and not made much effort to get out , had a few projects at home and stuff but last night i decided i would get out. I have recently purchased a DJI Mavic Air drone and thought this would be a ideal location to try it out properly. Sadly when i arrived the wind was really gusting , above 30mph according to the UAV app, so i decided not to take any risks and left it in the bag.
On arrival i parked the car , not sure when the new charges came into force but its now free after 20:00 hours and not 18:00 hrs as before. Not a major problem but worth noting.
I arrived at 19:45 hrs so after it took me the fifteen minutes to get my old shoes on and prepare the camera i was all set to go!Read More
Took a trip out to Folkestone in Kent today , down to The Warren. Sadly it was a last minute decision and the tide was the highest i had ever seen. This was a problem as my intention was to get some long exposure shots of the old groynes, not possible as these were under water when i arrived.Read More
Took a drive out to Scotney Castle today , the weather was dull and overcast and rain was forecast but in a bid not to be beaten decided to still make the effort. The location is a little out the way with no real good way to get here from the Kent coast. The roads through Maidstone and Goudhurst were a little winding at times but we made it in about an hour and forty mins. I packed my tripod in the hope of getting a long exposure , not sure if i would be stopped by the tripod police but i am happy to report nobody mentioned it at all.
After we arrived we were directed to the car park and into the ticket hall where we were relieved of large sums of money in exchange for a paper ticket, not even golden !Read More
Well spring is upon us so yesterday we headed off for a visit to Leeds Castle in Maidstone Kent. Nice easy journey to Maidstone only taking around forty five minutes to get there. The weather was a little disappointing being heavy cloud , but at least it was dry. I had packed my camera and tripod in the hope of getting a long exposure of the castle with some nice movement in the clouds, sadly it never turned out that way due to the heavy cloud, so you have to adapt. After looking around the grounds and stopping for several cups of tea i headed down to the Lake to try and find a good composition. This is a little tricky trying to get the whole castle and wall in the shot , the only place i could find was the image above but even this has a little bit of the bank in shot due to the wide angle i was shooting. Now i could have cloned this out but i decided to keep it in, personally i dont find it to distracting.Read More

Today the so called Beast From The East arrived in thanet, it was a little disappointing or not depending on your point of view. It was more a dusting from Dusseldorf.
I had already packed my camera bag in preparation so i decided i would head out to see what i could find to shoot. I first headed down to Ramsgate WestcliffRead More
Not been up town for a while and with Christmas a distant memory , i decided to go to Queens House in Greenwich. It is home to the Tulip Staircase . A very well photographed staircase i have seen many times over the years but never got to do it myself, till now.
I left Ramsgate on the Highspeed Train to Stratford International where i got the DLR from Stratford to Canary Wharf and from there to Greenwich. I walked approximately 15 mins to Queens House. It may be quicker to get of at Cutty Sark and walk from there but will try that next time.Read More
